Last Day Of Classes

I have only one more class and then my first year of college is over. Today has been a great day...
1. Corinne and I swapped college t-shirts hoping that we would find someone that had gone to the others college...make sense? Anyway, I found a Dickinson Red Devil today at the gym! He asked me if I went there...to be honest I wanted to look at him and say, "If I went to Dickinson would I be in the state of UT right now?" That was exciting.
2. I had a yummy french toast breakfast with Bushie at the Cannon.
3. I finally found out that my writing final is only a presentation--no written section! And I got out of class 30 minutes early.
4. I sat through my last Microbiology class!! (My sisters last class of college ever)
5. I got an extra package of pop-tarts from the vending machines (don't judge-it's been a junk food day in celebration of my last day of classes).
6. I'M DONE WITH CLASSES!!...besides sign language but I'm still celebrating :)

Now all I have are finals:
Microbiology on Saturday
Book of Mormon on Monday or Tuesday
Writing and Sign Language on Wednesday

Also good news from this week. I got a 97 on my Issues Paper (300 points towards my grade!) and I got an A for my overall grade in my microbiology lab.

From here til the end I'm just plugging along and studying as much as I can.
Countdown until I'm home = 11 days :)

Last but not least a picture to remember the last day of classes:
We are beautiful people. We will go far in life.

Summer Goal #1

It's about that time. I've decided to make a list of all the goals I want to achieve this summer. Some may seem silly and others may seem very...influential? Couldn't find the word I was looking for. Anyway, my first goal is to watch all the pixar movies in one weekend. The movies include

Toy Story
A Bug's Life
Toy Story 2
Monsters, Inc.
Finding Nemo
The Incredibles
Cars
Ratatouille
Wall-E
Up
Toy Story 3

If anyone is in the state of Maryland and would like to join me you are more than welcome! These are some of the greatest movies ever! (well...I wasn't a particular fan of WALL-E, but I'm still determined to watch it) Well, that is goal number 1. Happy Friday!
Also...
Dear Utah,
It's April 8th. Please stop snowing already!!
Love,
Maggie

One Week

1 week until I'm done with classes. That's it! Then 4 finals and I'm on my way back to the great state of M-D. My list in my previous post has been shortened quite a bit and here is the updated list that will be completed by next Wednesday.

1.Multi-modal project for Writing
2.Final Microbe Project
3.1 Sign Language Quiz (which I will be taking in 2 hours)
4. 1 Book of Mormon Quiz

It may seem like a lot, but holy smokes is that so much better than what I was facing a week ago. I finally feel like I'm in the home stretch. Now, General Conference. For those non-lds readers...General Conference happens twice a year and instead of going to church on Sunday the leaders of our church speak  from the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. If you can't attend the actually conference it is broadcasted on TV; hence my mothers title of "church on the sofa". There are 4, 2 hour sessions. 2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Here are some ideas from my favorite talks:

Dieter F. Uchtdorf:
- Taking small steps on the path to righteousness.
- Turn down the volume of the worldly noise to hear the words you can only hear in your heart.
- Strive to be someone the Lord can rely on.
- Promptings may come as benefits to others--don't just think about yourself.
- Answers to prayers don't necessarily come while on your knees.
- By being the answer to someones prayer, we often answer our own.
- The Lord expects us to open our mouth when expressing our faith--we have a message of joy!
- Best way to preach the gospel is through example--preach at all times--use words if necessary.

David A. Bednar (my favorite :)
- Experience with light: 1. light switch--what is uncertain becomes clear instantly 2. rising sun--gradually light is increased.
- Spirit of Revelation--the Holy Ghost is a revelator.
- Some revelations come as like the experiences of light--drastically is less common, it's usually gradually "dews descend upon our souls"
- The very simple way the Holy Ghost whispers may cause us to look beyond the mark.
- Question your personal testimonies? Impressions are not massive or even frequent.
- Be obedient and have faith and you cannot go a miss.
- Overcast conditions--we have sufficient light to conduct a new day.
Oliver Cowdery--traveled to Harmony PA because he felt the need to help the prophet. He came at a very vital time!
- We might not see angels, but if we will do everything God will inspire our steps. "Then shall they confidence wax strong in the presence of God"
- Regardless of how you receive revelation--it will always guide and protect you and your family.

Thomas S. Monson--temples temples temples.
-We must be grateful for them and visit them often.
-Make as many sacrifices as necessary to be able to go.
-Fun Fact: 85% of members live within 200 miles of a temple!
-Until you have entered into the temple you have not received all the church has to offer.
-Each temple stands as a beacon to the world...Each is an expression of our testimonies.

This blog entry needs a picture and I'm going to give it one. Here is my friend Marty:

Yes, he is a lab/retriever/BASSET HOUND! Isn't he just the cutest, and he's from the Human Society which makes me want this puppy even more so I can give him the best life possible; however, I know my apartment won't like him as much as I do. :( It'll be OK, Marty!!

Here's to a great week ahead! I'm sure it will drag on, but I'm sure I'll look back and be amazed at how fast this year has gone by. Happy Wednesday (Hump) Day!

Festival of Colors

On Saturday, a few of the girls went to the Krishna Temple down in Spanish Fork, UT and participated in the festival of colors. Curious? It's an Indian Holiday celebrated with lots and lots of colored chalk. Not exactly the type that you write on the side walks with...more like...

...this kind of chalk. Yup. It pretty much just goes everywhere and by the end you are covered in colored chalk from head to toe. Now I'm sure you all are curious for some pictures of what I might look like.

Here we are just slightly colorful after walking in...
Here I am with my new disease I contracted...
And here would be the final product...cute huh??

It was a lot of fun until we had to leave. We had no clue where the bus stop was and apparently neither did any of the police officers. Very helpful. Bushie and I walked in all different directions until we discovered my iPhones ability to tell us where bus stops are located. ACTUALLY helpful. We finally found the bus stop then waited for almost 2 hours for the next bus...oh and we saw the bus before leaving as we were walking towards the bus stop. Just our luck. We finally made it back, took a shower (looked like I was bleeding everywhere), and washed my clothes which are permanently pink. It was quite the adventure and unlike anything I've ever seen. Next year--I'll I ask is for warmth!

Ruffles

Now, I'm no fashionista, but as spring approaches I've been drawn to ruffles and oversized shirts. I don't know why...I just really like them.

Don't the last two just look so comfy! That's what I aim for. Anyway, just thought I would share my ideas for the clothes I will hopefully buy in the near future...hopefully. Now, I will admit I am a big shoe fan, but now that I am a poor college student, my shoe shopping has dwindled sadly. However, I just find these to be the cutest little casual wedges. Again, hopefully...
Some may call me plain, but that is me! I go for simple and comfortable. I'm very excited for spring to get here. It's a rainy...wowzers! I just looked outside and it's a blizzard. So not rain, but SNOW! Only in Utah does it snow a week before April. Speaking of April. I'm done with finals in 25 days and I'm home in 29!!! I know it's soon, but it could still come a little faster. :) Also, I finally went snowboarding again yesterday! First times since class ended. It was awesome. Probably around 5 inches of fresh snow. I had forgetting how much I missed that. Anyway, that is my little "shpeel" for the day! Happy Friday :)

Dear Uncle Lee,

You led a phenomenal life filled with love and family who will always keep you in our hearts.

My great-uncle Lee passed away last night after a tough battle with a brain tumor. He has taught me how to be courageous and strong. His sense of humor never failed to make our family laugh. His talents and gifts will always shine through his wood craftsmanship, and no one will ever be able to cook a salmon quite like my Uncle Lee. I know he's safe in my Savior's arms and is without pain and full of peace. I know I will see him again one day and I will continue to thank him for the lessons he has taught me.
