Happy Halloween!

Clever title I know.
I made it through those past couple of days and I had a jam packed Halloween weekend. Here are a few pictures of my total-last-minute costumes.

I don't even look like I'm wearing a costume, but I was "night".
My friend Kayla (next picture) was the moon....I had stars on my dress if that helps.
That is Kayla...I little more legit I would say.
Happy Halloween in my "Pebbles" costume!

On Saturday I ran the Halloween half marathon in Provo. It started way up in the mountains and the first 4-5 miles are down hill. After that your knees are YELLING at you telling you to stop... but oh WAIT you have 8 more miles to go! It was a rough experience, but I did beat my time so I would say it was successful. I was batman and Ellie was robin. Sadly, I did not get a picture of us, but here are some of the other costumes!

driving up to the snow- Let's just say it was a little chilly.
Sheep

not so sure...
Eye balls!
My personal favorite...a whoopee cushion!
Not sure how she ran in this one.

Countdown Updates
25 days until CHRISTMAS MUSIC (tragic story...keep reading)
23 days until I'm home for Thanksgiving!
17 American Heritage classes left!

There is a girl across the hall from me and she believes in Christmas music BEFORE THANKSGIVING. What is the world coming to?! She starts at 12am November 1. I'm just so disappointed...Christmas is my favorite holiday, but Thanksgiving is still a holiday and deserves a little credit.
HAPPY TURKEY MONTH EVERYONE!!

Sam I Am- Book of Mormon Edition

Narrator: You all have hear of Sam I am
Obsessed with his green eggs and Ham.

But something new I introduce
The Book of Mormon by Doctor Seuss.

Nephi: I am, Nephi, yes that’s me.
I’ll tell you of my family.

Of goodly parents I was born
I’ve never drunk, I’ve never sworn

I will not swear inside my house
I will not swear beside a mouse

I will not swear while on a trek
Not even one same ‘Oh my heck’

This is Lehi, he’s my dad
            Laman, Lemual, they are bad.

            And who is this?
            Why this is Sam.

Sam:    Yes this is Sam.
            Sam I am.

Nephi:  Lehi is a prophet true
The Lord tells him what we should do.

Lehi:    In a dream the Lord did say
Pack up your tents and get away

Sam:    Dad says we must leave our home
Thru th desert we will roam

            Laman, Lemual, please do come
Camping can be lots of fun

Laman:We will not leave our comfy home
We will not in the desert roam

Lemual:We will not part with our cool stuff
To wander thru the wild so rough

Laman:We will not leave our real good buds
We will not leave our fancy duds
(The girls all say that we are studs)

Lemual:It is too hard, It is too Far
We will not do it Sam you are.

Nephi:  I will come, yes, I will do
All things my father asks me to.

Lehi:    I had another dream today
Wherein the Lord told me to say

            Deep within the city gates
            Laban keeps some precious plates

            Laman, Lemual, Nephi, Sam
Go and get them from that Man.

Sam:    Father says within the gates
We must go to get the plates

Will you do what’s right this day?
Will you come? Will you obey?

Laman:We will not go within the gates
We will not go to get the plates

Lemual: We will not go, we won’t obey
Why do we need plates anyway?

Laman:We’d never open, never look
We’d rather read a comic book

Lemual:That man is bad he’ll raise a fuss
He’ll never give the plates to us.

Laman:He’ll probably kill us if we come
This is stupid, this is dumb.

Lemual:It is too hard. It is too far.
We will not do it Sam you are.

Nephi:  My brothers they are out of line
They kicked my where the sun don’t shine

            Laman punches, Lemuel kicks
And now their hitting me with sticks

Thank goodness that an Angel came
For now they feel a bit of shame

I will go to city gates
I will go get the sacred plates.

Laban’s had too much to drink
Now he’ll lose his head I think

Sam:    Father Mother don’t be sad
We’re all alive, you should be glad

            Nephi went within the gates
Now we have the precious plates.

Lehi:   I’ve dreamed another dream today
The Lord had something new to say

You must go back to town once more
You must go knock on Ishmaels door.

The Lord wants him to walk thru sand
And with us find the promised land.

Sam:    Would you, could you come this day?
Invite our friends with us to stay.

Travel back to town once more
Go and knock on Ishmael’s door?

Laman:WooHoo! Yes! Now you’re talkin!
Let’s finally get this party rockin

Lemual:Ishmael’s daughters are real cute
And getting chicks is our strong suit

Laman:We will go back to town once more
We will go knock on Ishmael’s door

Lemual:We will go ask he and his wife
To join us in our dreary life

Laman:We’ll ask his sons to come along
For now we know that we’ve been wrong

Lemual:And we will ask his daughters fair
To travel with us here and there.

Laman:They look so fine, yes they are sweet
They’ll help to make our life complete.

Lemual:Come on, Let’s go, it’s not too far
You bet we’ll do this Sam you are!!!

Dr Suess: So Laman and Lemual finally learned
The thing which they so badly yearned
Was love of friends and family near
To bring them happiness and cheer

Intramural Tennis

Let me just start off by saying that Ellie and I are going to rock BYU intramural doubles. I could not be happier with my partner and I'm so excited to be playing again. Today was our first "match"...or so we thought. We walked over to the courts all nervous...Are we playing outdoors in the cold? (Yes, it's getting there) What if they give us a 1 out of 5? What if all the other teams are really good? Then I just told myself: Maggie, if you win you get a t-shirt. That would be really awesome, but like you said you missed playing and just want to get back on the courts. Who cares!? So that's our team motto now. Well, not who cares, but just play for fun! haha Anywho, we just had to hit with the other girls so we could get a ranking. 1 being the worst, 5 being the highest. We got a 4! I'm proud of us...match updates will come soon.

Other updates:
1. Test and Quizes this week went ok...not bad....ok.
2. I've been extremely productive in the library allowing me to update my blog now because of my scarce amount of homework woohoo!!
3. I spent most of last night cutting out shapes at a Relief Society service project with Natalie and Brontay. Natalie and I started a conversation about chicken casseroles and it all went down hill from there. hahaha
4. Stephen Jones sat with me at lunch today. For my family who doesn't know who he is here is his New Spice Commercial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ArIj236UHs) for the BYU library. Also for some of my oblivious family members-it's based off of a Old Spice deodorant commercial. Anyway, he's pretty awesome and we bonded over our love for the east coast. You know!

5. TOPS, the tutoring program I'm in went a little bit better today. My organization skills came in handy, but hopefully her notebook will look the same next week as it did after the 20 minutes we spent organizing it.
6. Tonight marks the night of my Christmas decoration shopping extravaganza!
7. I'm finally turning in a paper I finished two weeks ago tomorrow. American Heritage=death
8. I have to give a talk on the Book of Mormon on Sunday...any ideas??

PS. It's suppose to rain here for the next week. Here's my only comment: Rain, bring it on!

My Little

What a weekend it has been. On Thursday I planned my weekend to go a little like this...Friday: Sleep in, go to American Heritage, take my nutrition exam, go to bed early, hike Mt. Timpanogos with Alison...Saturday: sleep after hike, make cookie and prepare my lesson for Sunday, do some homework... Sunday: go to church, Sunday nap, more homework...basically my weekend was somewhat organized. Oh man was that going to change.

Friday, after I took my exam, Bushie (aka my little) called me and told me she had something important to tell me. She asked me if I was back at my dorm, but I wasn't so she said, "Hang on, I got to talk to my dad. Just call me when you are back at your dorm." So, I take my time, get back to my dorm, and call her back. She then tells me she's walking up stairs and that she see's balloons. My first thought: "Why are there balloons? It's not her birthday- why would there be balloons in her house?" Then she says that there are names on doors. My door was partially cracked and I heard the same voice on the phone as I did in the hall. It all hit me. I ran out my door and low and behold there is my little!!! I've never screamed so loud, and I couldn't believe she actually was in Utah. Well, my weekend plans went down the toilet and I pretty much hung out with the Andersons all weekend. What a party. I literally had no idea and was completely shocked...I'm still shocked! The "talk to her dad" was actually her waiting in my dorm lobby until I came back. The text messages earlier that week were all sneaky ways of getting information about my weekend--it all made sense!
A note for me!
Upcoming week:
Tomorrow-Music Test, ASL midterm, and lots of reading for Nutrition
Wednesday-Nutrition Quiz
Thursday-TOPS, Abstracts for Intro to Dietetics due
Friday-AHTG Paper due
Some where along the line: Catch-up on BOM, write my talk on BOM for next Sunday
I LOVE COLLEGE!!

Happy Hump Day Indeed!

It's been such a good day! Just had to share the excitement.
9:00 Woke up and talked to my mama on skype
10:00 Music 101--The teacher tells us we are a day ahead so there will be no class on Friday-SLEEP IN!
11:00 Finished all my Book of Mormon post-its for my Exam that I will hopefully take tomorrow.
12:00 Lunch with Ellie, Brontay, and a friend of Ellie's (Mary) at the MOA-super good salad!
4:00 Took a Nap. Wasn't the best of naps but it still was necessary.
6:00 Went to the gym. I hadn't been in a while so that felt really good - thanks for the motivation mama!
7:30 Dinner with Alison. I was craving cereal and I gotta say, I made the best cereal combination since I have been out here: honey clusters, life, cinnamon toast crunch.  Yeah it was tasty
9:00 Skyped Corinne. Heard about her fantastic softball news! I feel like a proud parent.
11:00 Done with my homework and ready to get in bed and catch up on some tv.

Other good news this week...
1. Ellie and I have officially signed up for intramural tennis. Placement matches are next week!
2. Rooming situations for next year are looking good. :)
3. Finished a paper for American Heritage a week before it was due. (Only 23 more AHTG classes...not that I'm counting or anything)

Hopefully my Book of Mormon and Nutrition midterms don't ruin this good week streak!

ps. Only 43 more days until Christmas music!!

I'm A Big Loser

I'm a big nerd when it comes to decorations for the holidays. My favorite time of year is from Halloween to December 25th at 11:59pm. (12am on the 26th is my least favorite moment during the year!) The decorating never ends and not only do I decorate once I get to decorate 3 times!! What other time of year do you get to decorate every month. (I take that back...I'm sure I could find a reason to)
Anyway, my mom sent me the best box I think so far. It was filled with Halloween decorations! The contents: halloween lights, pumpkin/bat garland, window stickers, light up pumpkin/ghost, candy dishes, and halloween candy. (socks, pencils, and post-its--those aren't really decorations but still festive holiday spirit!) Of course I took my box and rushed back to my dorm to put it all up. These pictures don't do justice and I will say it's not quite the same as home, but for a dorm room...I'm happy. :)
excuse the messiness. sorry!

Another bonus of the week was that I caught up on Biggest Loser! Jillian Michaels, I have missed you. Haha. I think I live vicariously through the contestants and I enjoy watching her yell at them, but I wish it were me! Bucket List item number 8: Meet Jillian Michaels.

Preview of the weekend: Hiking Mount Timpanogos tomorrow with Alison. Start time: 3am. Football game on Saturday. Hopefully see The Bishop and Sister Wilcox! Studying for Book of Mormon, Sign Language (which is awesome!), and Nutrition mid terms. Writing a paper for BOM, and American Heritage. Lots to do! But like my favorite quote says...
you only really find joy when you are too busy having fun to go looking for it

Fall!

On Friday Alison, Ellie, and I decided to go for a hike. I have my list of places I need to see out here so we decided to take one for a spin. We headed down Provo Canyon and hiked a trail called Big Springs Trails. It was awesome! We all have been missing the trees and the colors changing back home so this hike finally solidified the arrival of fall :) Pictures are below-thank you Alison for fixing my camera or else these wouldn't exist!

This was a great way to start off conference weekend. It was exciting to hear about the new temples that will be built in the near future. One of the Seventy gave a talk about prophets and included the same story I used in my Gospel Principles class!! I felt so cool. It was neat to hear from the Sunday School Presidency and how that directly applies to my calling. Uchtdorf said something that caught my attention...he said, "We must for go somethings to open up for better things." I'm the type of person that likes to do everything at once and I also hold on to things that might not be important at the time. Focus on the current and simple things in life- don't hang on to all of the past and don't over do yourself. Quality not quantity. Finally, like the prophet said, Be Grateful. Be grateful for EVERYTHING you've been given...including this fantastic fall season-Happy October everyone!
