Now that we are officially engaged I've decided to put up our story. Here it goes!
Dave and I have been in the same ward since of August of 2011. I came into the ward hearing of this "David Bracero" as big-man-on-campus. My first impression of him was on the first (or second, he claims) Sunday and he was conducting the music. I thought he was really cute but from all the stories I never thought he would date me.
A few months later I actually started dating his roommate! yup it's true. Although, he asked my roommate out before me too. Dave and his roommate, Kirk, asked out Celinda and KayCee and then on January 10 Dave and Kirk asked out Carly and me. I didn't realize we were actually paired off so I awkwardly told Dave, "Oh sure! I'll see if Carly can go too!" (Kirk was asking Carly out...I didn't need to ask her!) We went to go see Moneyball at the dollar theater. After that we just started texting and I thought I might actually have a shot! On the 15th he had a movie night and a bunch of people came over. I told him I wanted to watch a Disney movie but I'm pretty sure we watched iRobot (he says it was finding neverland). He didn't even sit next to me which made me think...well there goes my shot! I texted him after we all left, "Next time we are watching that Disney movie!" He told me I could still come over and watch one if I wanted to. We ended up watching the Lion King and we just sat talking for a little while. I could tell he wanted to kiss me, but I wasn't sure if I should this early. It was totally a "Hitch" move. He came 90. I went 10. :) The rest is history!

Proposal Story: He actually spilled the beans earlier in the week. He was talking to my dad and he said how he got to the part about proposing this week...I turned and looked at him, "Are you....???!?!?" He busted out laughing along with a "SHOOT! Guess I gotta change the weekend!"
Thursday rolls around and he asked me, "Wanna go to Kneaders on Friday morning?!" (We get unlimited french toast there often!) I said ok. He said Kirk wanted to come but we had to get up early cause he had to work. I asked how early. "Um. around 6:30??" "Holy moly....ok maybe we'll see if I wake up." Friday morning at 5:45 I get a phone call, "Wake up! and wear warm clothes!" In my head I'm thinking this must have been the original plan, but it probably won't happen since I knew.
We drive over to a field and we're sitting there in the parking lot. I'm not asking any questions even though I'm SO confused. He turns to me and says, "Remember when we watched Count of Monte Cristo?? Remember how he arrives at his party?" I actually couldn't remember, but then it came to me. "WE'RE GOING ON A HOT AIR BALLOON!" (I found out later...He had actually planned this before we watched the movie and during the balloon part I said, "That would be fun!") The Balloon guy came and they tested the air. The weather on Friday was pretty over cast and apparently the winds would have made the ride quite interesting! I was a little bummed at first, but we woke up the next morning and the day was perfect!
The weather today was beautiful. Not a cloud in the sky. (I also had a test on Friday at 10am that we weren't sure if I was going to make it back for. Didn't even have to think about it today!) They inflated the balloon and away we went! We were 2000 feet above Provo when he said, "Well, I wanted to bring up here for a specific reason." I turned and said, "NUH UH!!" He said a few more things and then pulled out the ring! What's funny is that as soon as he was saying "Will you marry me?" The balloon guy blew the torch and that thing is SO loud I couldn't hear him. Good thing I can read lips! haha Of course I said yes! and I haven't stopped smiling since :D
I love you, Dave! and I can't wait to spend eternity with you. I know it sounds cliche, but you are my best friend and I wouldn't want it any other way. This is the start of our life together. We've had a lot of adventures so far and I can't wait to see what's in store for us in the years to come. Happy Engagement Day! Love you!
(I'm hoping to get him to post his side of the story soon!)
