Snowboarding

This picture is from home...hence the "hill" and ugly trees behind me.
Nothing compares to....

Last day of snowboarding today. I wake up every Thursday morning just wanting to get my homework done, but I get up to Sundance and I'm so happy I left my dorm room. This class has been a ton of fun and I have learned a lot. If you are a BYU student who has a free day in their next winter schedule take this class. Also, not only am I done with snowboarding today, but this marks 3/4 of a year of college done! HOLY COW where does time go.

Well, I will officially have my Tuesdays and Thursdays free after today. If you are reading this, are in Utah, and want to go snowboarding...you know where to find me!

Rant

I haven't been blogging lately (I apologize) and I just thought I would rant for a little....

Microbiology test corrections. Kill me now. They just are a pain and I thought I was going to be able to get half credit back each exam; however, my sister clearly informed me we only get 25 extra points..max! While some might find that generous I find it quite deceiving. I'm sure I'm not the only person in the class who miss read that!

I hate fights, confrontation, anything to pull away from happy and good relationships. Period.

If you live in the same room with someone and the trash bag is tied shut because its SO full and won't shut if you kept putting something in it....don't keep putting stuff on top of the bag!!

First my sister, then Heidi....I'm now all alone in a sign language class with the worst teacher ever. Awesome

When BYU decides to make Tuesdays Mondays it really screws me over. I have my two longest days right in a row. My body just wants to shut down at this point. Not going to lie...it's been a weird and frustrated past couple of days. Light at the end of the tunnel? I hope so.

Mom, hope you are no longer bored at work and have something to read. Sorry it's not very long...

Russell M. Nelson and Julie B. Beck

A perk here at BYU is being able to hear from some of the great leaders of the church. We had stake conference on Sunday where Russell M. Nelson, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, came and spoke to us. Then the ladies got a bonus when Julie B. Beck, Relief Society General President, came and spoke at a fireside. Now, Sister Beck said that texting, hobbies, and blogging we nice things to do, but not the things that will keep us in line with Heavenly Father, but I think I can make an exception when I'm studying her words and sharing them with others, right? :)

From Nelson's talk:
Alma 36:3--Alma testifying to Helaman "I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day."

"You don't need to worry about the future if you are yoked in the spirit of the Lord"

"If you do all you can do and be repentant--the Lord will make up for the rest"

From Beck's fireside:
"Prepare to serve a mission...Even if you don't go-the time will not be wasted."

As Relief Society sisters, Sister Beck stated the three things we are responsible for: 1) Increase faith in the home 2) strengthen the family 3) seek those in need and provide relief

"The Lord always rewards those who use common sense" She humorously stated that if someone tries to know if God exists and asks him to save him if he/she jumps off a cliff...that's not using common sense.

Moses 5:11--Our difficulties are part of God's plan

Visiting Teaching--you are assigned to be a visiting teacher to be an agent to the bishop. You are helping the Lord take care of his sheep.

Most important skill to obtain in this life is being able to recognize and follow the spirit.

I'm grateful for these wonderful leaders and I'm very fortunate to have been able to hear them speak. I hope to continually remind myself of my purpose here on earth and to strive to be the best that I can be. Happy Tuesday, everyone!

19

Today is my 19th Birthday. It blows my mind to think I'm starting my final year as a teenager and that I'm almost 3/4 of the way done with my first year of college. Honestly, where does the time go? I have some of the greatest friends, those from back home and those I've met in Utah, who have made this birthday extra special.

My door was covered with cute balloons thanks to Carly and Celinda...
the "p" deflated a little...

I was then treated to breakfast made by Bushie: eggs, toast and peanut butter, cinnamon toast crunch. Not only did I get breakfast, but I got 2 party size bags of Peanut M&Ms (I've also gotten bags from Toots and Pop, NC cousins, and My roommate...), a card with the greatest handwriting, and a blue bowl and polka dotted spoon for my cinnamon toast crunch...yup she's crazy :)

nope...not traced
Then I went and had Starbucks with Ms. Katie Walton. Love her. Then I went back to my dorm for some down time. Down time meaning catching up on Biggest Loser, One Tree Hill, and 90210. Got up and got ready to go to dinner with the girlies at California Pizza Kitchen.

I think this counts as a pretty successful birthday. Many texts and phone calls...I feel very loved, so thank you! It's now movie time in dorms :)

PS. The lack of blogging has been because of a lovely class called Microbiology...won't happen again! Hopefully!!

Disappearing Banana

The other day I bought 3 bananas. I woke up this morning to only 2. Now there are 3 again. Don't ask questions...I don't have the answers. The End.
